Aesthetic & Safe Lighting Upgrades

Lighting is the easiest way to increase the aesthetic value of your California home. However, installing new fixtures or ceiling fans involves complex wiring, joist mounting, and switch integrations that require professional hands to avoid code violations and fire hazards. Improperly supported fixtures can fall, creating severe hazards, while incorrect wiring layouts can cause short circuits.

Our Custom Lighting Capabilities

Our licensed electricians are highly skilled in laying out, wiring, and mounting custom lighting configurations that meet the strict energy guidelines of California's Title 24 code:

  • LED Recessed Lighting: Clean, energy-efficient recessed lights (pot lights) laid out mathematically to eliminate shadows in kitchens, living rooms, and hallways. We use ultra-thin wafer lights that fit into tight ceiling cavities.
  • Chandelier & Pendant Mounting: Secure structural reinforcing for heavy ceiling fixtures to ensure they remain safe and vibration-free. We anchor directly to structural ceiling joists using heavy-duty brackets.
  • Track & Accent Lighting: Highlight artwork, fireplace surrounds, or modern cabinets with directional beam tracks.
  • Outdoor & Landscape Lighting: Motion-sensor floodlights, security lighting, accent pathway LEDs, and weatherproof deck illumination to extend your living space.

Ceiling Fan Installations & Safety

Ceiling fans weigh anywhere from 15 to 50 pounds. When spinning, they create continuous vibrations. Standard light fixture boxes in ceilings are **not** rated to support the weight and movement of a fan.

  • Fan-Rated Box Retrofitting: We install heavy-duty, braced fan boxes anchored directly to ceiling joists to prevent wobbling or structural failure. We cut clean openings and secure internal framing.
  • Dedicated Switch Wiring: We can run new 3-wire lines from your wall switch to allow separate control of the fan speed and the light kit.
  • Smart Integration: Control your ceiling fans via remote control, smartphone, or smart home voice systems like Alexa and Google Home.

Switch & Dimmer Integrations

We install premium Lutron, Leviton, and smart switches to provide full control of your mood lighting, including soft-glow fade dimmers, occupancy sensors (which automatically turn lights off in empty rooms to save power), and multi-way three-way switches for stairs and corridors. We ensure all switches align with existing load designs to prevent flickering issues common with older dimmers and new LED bulbs.

Important: California Title 24 Lighting Compliance

California's building code (Title 24, Part 6) requires residential lighting to meet strict high-efficacy requirements. This means that almost all newly installed fixtures must utilize high-efficiency LED lights rather than power-consuming incandescent bulbs. In addition, bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms must contain occupancy sensors or dimmers to reduce energy waste. We guide you on choosing Title 24 compliant fixtures that match your design vision while keeping you fully legal.

Lighting & Fan FAQ

My new LED bulbs flicker when I dim them. Why is this happening?
This is a common compatibility issue. Older dimmer switches were designed to regulate voltage for incandescent bulbs. LED bulbs draw much lower currents and require specialized electronic low-voltage (ELV) dimmers to dim smoothly without flickering or buzzing.
Can you install a ceiling fan in a room with no existing wiring?
Yes. We can cut a clean ceiling cavity, install a braced fan-rated box, run new copper lines through your attic or walls, and mount a new wall switch to control the fan.
How high should a ceiling fan be mounted?
For safety and optimal air circulation, building codes require ceiling fan blades to be at least 7 feet above the floor. For high ceilings, we utilize matching downrods to position the fan at the correct height.
