Important: Neutral Wires & Smart Switches
A common hurdle in older homes is that smart switches require a **neutral wire** (the white wire) inside the wall box to keep the switch's internal computer powered even when the light is turned off. Many homes built before 1980 only run a hot and switch leg to wall switches, lacking a neutral.
- System Evaluation: Our electricians inspect your existing wall boxes. If no neutral is present, we can pull new neutral wires through the walls to allow complete smart switch compatibility.
- No-Neutral Solutions: We also supply and install specialized smart switch models (like Lutron Caséta) that utilize a tiny current leak method to operate without neutral wires, saving you wall opening costs.
